The Iquitos Story: A Journey into the Heart of Biodiversity

The Iquitos Project was born in 2018 from the passion of a group of biologists and geographers for tropical ecosystems. Initially, it was a modest collection of articles and maps for students, created in a garage in Bucharest.

In 2020, we launched the first complete educational platform in the Romanian language, offering interactive courses about Amazon biodiversity and the impact of climate change. This step brought us our first award for innovation in education.

By 2023, we had expanded the content with modules for teachers and students, partnerships with schools across the country, and developed 3D maps of the Amazon basin. Today, Iquitos is the main Romanian educational resource dedicated to natural sciences.

Our mission remains the same: to inspire future generations to understand, protect, and connect with the wonders of tropical nature, through accessible scientific knowledge.
